LAFAYETTE, La. -- Red-hot Louisiana was able to get the best of Southern Miss on Saturday afternoon at the Cajun Courts, winning 4-0.
The Golden Eagles got to see newcomers Matthieu Peres and Youssef Tamimount in doubles action for the first time, and they held a 4-3 lead before time ran out and the Cajuns gained the point. They also both gained substantial singles experience, with Tamimount making his Black and Gold debut.
Ronit Bisht, Jorman Reyes and Chung Han-Tsai won their first singles sets and were locked in more tight battles in the second set that could have resulted in three singles points.
The Cajuns are now 15-1 at home over the last two years. Southern Miss even earned a 4-1 win in Lafayette in April 2017.
Southern Miss now turns its attention to two matches in Beaumont, Texas this upcoming weekend. First up is UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, followed by host Lamar on Sunday.
