Four T&F Athletes Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

Southern Miss will send four student-athletes to Indoors.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA has announced the Track & Field student-athletes who have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. Southern Miss has had four student-athletes qualify in five events for the Championships.
McKinely West, Caleb Parker, Eric Richards and John Warren have all qualified for the Indoor Championships from Southern Miss. This is the first time for Southern Miss to have this many student-athletes qualify.
West has qualified to compete in both the 60m dash as well as the 200m dash. At the C-USA Championships, the senior earned gold for his time of 6.64, tying the C-USA meet record. He also set a new meet record in the prelims with a time of 6.61. In the 200m, the senior grabbed himself a second gold, finishing first with a time of 20.66, a new C-USA meet record.
Parker qualified to compete in the 60m Hurdles. Last time out at the C-USA Indoor Championships, the senior set a new C-USA meet record with his time of 7.77, earning himself a gold medal.
Richards, a junior, qualified for the Championships in the high jump. At the C-USA Championships, he earned himself a gold medal for his new school record jump of 2.22m (7'3.5").
Warren has qualified to compete in the triple jump at the Championships. He defended his gold medal at the C-USA Championships, placing first with his distance of 16.29m.
The Championships
The men of Southern Miss will be returning to familiar ground with the NCAA Championships being held at Birmingham CrossPlex, hosted by UAB. The meet will take place on March 8 and 9 in Birmingham, Ala.
ESPN3 will be streaming all the action, starting live at 5:30pm CT on Mar. 8 and at 4pm CT on March 9. The championship will be re-aired at 9pm on Sunday, March 10 on ESPN2 and again on March 11 at 9pm CT on ESPNU.
