
Southern Miss Softball Set to Take on Jacksonville State in Sunday Doubleheader

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss softball team (7-4) will travel to Oxford, Ala. where they will take on Jacksonville State (6-3) in a doubleheader that will be played on Sunday, February 24 at Choccolocco Park. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for noon (CT) with game two to follow shortly after the conclusion of game one.Â

Southern Miss and Jacksonville State were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday, February 23, followed by a single game on Sunday but due to expected rain in the area, the doubleheader was moved to Sunday.

The last time that Southern Miss took the field was on Sunday, February 17 against then ranked #16 Baylor in their final game of the Getterman Classic. The Golden Eagles gave a valiant effort in the contest but fell to the Bears by a final score of 4-3.

First baseman Sarah Van Schaik and second baseman Chase Nelson both collected a RBI in the game. Nelson's RBI came in the top of the fifth inning when she blasted a two-out double to put the Golden Eagles on top, 3-2.
