
Lady Eagles Take On Faulkner to Finish Out 2019

Southern Miss women's basketball will face the Faulkner Lady Eagles on Dec. 28th in Reed Green, with tickets being $1 to pack the house.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss women's basketball are set to take on Faulkner University on Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum.
To help pack the house, tickets are $1 for fans.
The Lady Eagles return to the court after a short stint away for the holiday break. Southern Miss (7-3) takes on Faulkner (9-5) to start back from the break. It will be an exhibition game for Faulkner.
The Lady Eagles of Faulkner are an NAIA team from Montgomery, Ala. that plays in the Southern States Athletic Conference. This will be the first meeting between the two Lady Eagle squads, and it will be the ninth team that Southern Miss has played that also has their mascot as an Eagle. The last time USM played another Eagles squad was in the 2015-16 season, when they took on Tennessee Tech on Dec. 1. Angela Grant leads Faulkner with 178 points, as well as in rebounds with 166. Ashlyn Adkins leads them in assists with 54. They are coached by Reed Sutton, who is in his 10th season.Â
Southern Miss comes off a close-fought loss to Houston on the road. The Cougars, now 6-6, rallied in the second half to overcome the Lady Eagles, 75-60 in Fertitta Center. The Lady Eagles continue to be led in points by senior Shonte Hailes, who now has 168 points on the season. She put up 23 points in the matchup. Kelsey Jones continues to lead in rebounds, now with 56, and Daishai Almond is an assisting machine, raking in 36 assists thus far.Â
