
Pierce, Caracheo and Diaz Tabbed C-USA Women’s Soccer All-Conference Selections

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss junior defender Caitlin Pierce, junior midfielder Jenny Caracheo, and junior forward Ariel Diaz were tabbed 2019 C-USA Women's Soccer All-Conference selections, the league announced on Tuesday. 2019 marks the first time that each member of the junior trio has earned C-USA All-Conference honors.

Pierce, a native of Pantego, Texas was named to the C-USA Women's Soccer All-Conference Second Team. Over the course of her collegiate career, Pierce has been an integral part of the Golden Eagles' backline.
In 2019, Pierce helped Southern Miss shutout five of its opponents. Four of the five shutouts that the Golden Eagles posted came in consecutive matches, marking the most consecutive shutouts recorded by any team in the history of the Southern Miss women's soccer program since 2003.
Pierce was named the C-USA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending, Sunday, September 15, becoming the first Southern Miss player to earn the weekly award since Beth Coleman in 2016.
The junior defender started 17 of Southern Miss' 18 matches during the 2019 season. She missed the match against Southeast Missouri State due to injury. Pierce earned a total of 1,454 minutes of playing time, notched two assists, tallied two points, and took six shots.
Pierce collected her first assist of the season in Southern Miss' 2-0 road victory at Auburn after assisting Hailey Pohevitz on the game-winning goal. She picked up her second assist of the season in the Golden Eagles' road contest against the Charlotte 49ers.
Pierce ended the season tied with Pohevitz and JoAnnie Ramos' as Southern Miss' leader in assists for the season.

Caracheo whose game has been on the up rise ever since her breakout performance in the 2018 C-USA Women's Soccer Tournament, was selected to the 2019 C-USA Women's Soccer All-Conference Third Team.
In 2018, Caracheo was selected to the C-USA Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team, becoming one of just three players in the history of the Southern Miss women's soccer program to ever earn the honor.
The Royse City, Texas native was one of only five players to start all 18 of Southern Miss' matches in 2019. Over the span of the 2019 season, she logged 1,509 minutes, scored four goals, registered one assist, posted nine points, and shot 16 times.
Caracheo netted the game winning goals versus Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State.
The junior midfielder recorded the first hat-trick of her collegiate career in Southern Miss' 8-0 win versus Mississippi Valley State.
Her lone assist of the season came in the Golden Eagles' 3-1 road victory at UTEP, after assisting Ariel Diaz on the first goal of the match.

Diaz who just wrapped up her first year with Southern Miss after transferring from North Texas, earned a spot on the 2019 C-USA Women's Soccer All-Conference Third Team.
Diaz started 17 of the Golden Eagles' 18 matches during the 2019 season. She did not start the match against Louisiana Tech due to injury, but did make an appearance.
The Lubbock, Texas native totaled 1,244 minutes of playing time, netted seven goals, recorded one assist, racked up 15 points, and took 43 shots in 2019.
Diaz ended the 2019 season having registered the second-most goals and points of any player on the Southern Miss women's soccer roster for the season.
Diaz produced the game-winning goal in Southern Miss' 3-0 win versus FIU. She also scored goals against Mississippi Valley State, Auburn, Florida Atlantic, UTSA and UTEP.
In addition, the junior forward logged the first multi-goal game of her Southern Miss career (at UTEP).
