Ashley Chapman on her four years
"It's difficult to even begin to describe what Southern Miss has meant to me. My time here has taught me more lessons than I can count, constantly pushed me to my absolute limit, made me physically strong and mentally tough, given me opportunities that I could have only dreamed of, blessed me with a bond among a special group of girls that simply cannot be broken, allowed me to play on the exact same floor as my dad and brother once played on, and that my mom walked across after earning her PhD. I will never forget my time here and will forever be thankful for it. USM has always and will always hold a special place in my heart. To the top, always!"
Chapman, a native of Mobile, Ala., started her Southern Miss career as a defensive specialist before making the transition to the outside hitter position. She made that change in stride en route to a breakout senior season. Over the course of 28 games, Chapman has exploded for 135 kills after recording just two kills in her first three seasons. She's also erupted for a career-best four double-doubles this season. In her final season, Chapman also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 honors.Â
