WBB Hosts Southeastern Louisiana for Gold Out on Wednesday

The Southern Miss Lady Eagles tip off against the Lady Lions at 6pm in Reed Green Coliseum.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss women's basketball take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions on Wednesday, Nov. 13th at 6 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum for a gold out. All fans are encouraged to wear gold to the game!
The Lady Eagles will host the Lady Lions for the sixth time in Reed Green Coliseum. It will be the 11th meeting between the two programs overall. Southern Miss has been coached into two wins against Southeastern by Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis.
Southern Miss is coming off a tough loss to in-state rival Mississippi State, where they were defeated 91-57 by the Bulldogs in Humphrey Coliseum. Redshirt sophomore Imani Carter had a breakout game against the Bulldogs, breaking four career records and posting nine points from 4-of-6 shooting from the floor. Freshman Liz Gibbs also showed her talent as she put up six points and two assists against the No. 10-ranked team in the country. After two games, Southern Miss is led by senior Shonte Hailes with 29 points, redshirt sophomore Kelsey Jones with 10 rebounds, and sophomore Daishai Almond with six assists. Daishai Almond and Allie Kennedy have both been given starting nods
Southeastern Louisiana has just started its season, coming off a close game to Houston 65-78. Southern Miss will also face the Cougars in December. The team is led by Celica Sterling with 17 points, Aminat Jubril with 12 rebounds, while Breonca Ducksworth and Alexius Horne both have three assists. They are led by third year head coach Ayla Guzzardo. They have five freshmen on their squad, one from the hometown of former Lady Eagle Megan Brown in Jaylen Huderson who also attended Salmen High School in Slidell, La.
Two of the Lady Eagles are rising in the ranks in two different categories for the all-time career records. Amber Landing is currently sitting in the No. 4 position for career blocks with 76, and is behind Sonja Brown (190), Stephanie Helgeson (169), and Liz Biland (112). Shonte Hailes is rising on the career assists list, currently eighth with 381. Shonte Hailes is also just 44 points away from hitting 1,000 in her Southern Miss career.
