
Women’s Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 Academic Year

2019 marks the third consecutive year that the Golden Eagles have earned the award.
United Soccer Coaches 2018-19 Team Academic Award Winners
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year, the organization announced. 2019 marks the third consecutive year the Southern Miss has earned the award.
The Team Academic Award was created to recognize student athletes' commitment to excellence in the classroom. To be eligible for the College Team Academic Award, the nominated program must be a current member of United Soccer Coaches College Services.
For a team to be considered for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA or junior college roster forms for the fall season.
All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team GPA, and the nomination form must be signed by a college or university official.
A total of 995 college soccer teams earned the Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year, with 649 being women's teams and 346 being men's teams. 258 schools saw both their men's and women's teams earn the award.
Since the Team Academic Award was established in 1996, the Southern Miss women's soccer team had earned the award 12 times. 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 mark the years that the Golden Eagles have taken home the award.
