Southern Miss to Host South Alabama on Tuesday Night

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss (1-15, 0-3 C-USA) women's volleyball team will welcome South Alabama (11-6, 3-1 Sun Belt) to town on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. showdown at Reed Green Coliseum. The contest marks the final midweek game in October for the Golden Eagles.
The Last Time Out
Southern Miss will take the floor for the first time since dropping its C-USA home opener to North Texas last Friday night. Despite winning the first frame, the Golden Eagles fell to the Mean Green in four sets. Freshman Gillian Hidalgo led the way with a career-high 15 kills on a .235 hitting percentage.
Piper Matsumoto stayed hot after dishing out 40 assists, 13 digs, and five kills. The performance was the sixth double-double this season for the junior transfer from Fort Myers, Fla. Liana Guillemaud contributed with 13 kills, while Kess Krutsinger had five kills. Madison Lawler racked up 21 digs and four assists.

Splitting time at the setter position, Rachael DeMarcus and Lillie Fromdahl have combined for 618 assists. Defensively, Ashlyn Roberts has a team-high 253 digs.
