Women's Volleyball to Open Homestand Against FAU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Opening a four-game homestand, the Southern Miss women's volleyball team will host FAU in a Conference USA battle on Friday night. First serve at Reed Green Coliseum is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles are six days removed from falling at Charlotte in straight sets. Ashley Chapman paced the Golden Eagles with 10 kills in a career-day. Chapman added 18 digs to secure the first double-double outing of her career. Junior libero Madison Lawler dished out 22 digs while Piper Matsumoto and Lindsey Legg each had five digs.

Matsumoto and Summer Johnson combined for 31 assists and two kills. Offensively, Liana Guillemaud had six kills, while Kess Krutsinger and Kaile Tuisamatatele had five kills each. Freshman Hallie Phelan also added four kills to the 33 total kills Southern Miss registered. Tuisamatatele finished with a team-high .286 hitting percentage.Â

FAU ranks third in C-USA in hitting percentage and assists, while ranking fourth in kills. Cailea Gibbs ranks 10th in C-USA with a .323 hitting percentage while averaging 1.96 kills per set. Sydney Nemtuda joins Gibbs in the offensive charge with a team-high 163 kills and 24 service aces. Redshirt senior Zuri Smith has blocked a team-high 57 attacks and her 1.10 blocks per set rank her sixth in C-USA.

- A pair of former West Virginia Mountaineers will duke it out on Friday night when Southern Miss sophomore Chloe Klusman and FAU redshirt senior Zuri Smith hit the floor. Both competed at West Virginia before transferring to their respective C-USA schools. Â
