HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team officially begins its spring schedule Saturday morning when it hosts Jackson State at 10 a.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are 25-4 at home since the start of the 2017 season. Fans in attendance at Saturday's match will also be treated to donuts and coffee, courtesy of the athletics department, while supplies last.
Head coach Zubin Engineer enters his sixth season at the helm. The squad has put together five consecutive winning seasons, including a 19-4 record last year. Seniors Jorman Reyes and Teeradon Tortrakul will lead the Golden Eagles. Reyes' 17-3 record was second on last year's team, trailing only the since-graduated and All-Conference USA performer Wen-Po Tseng (15-0).
The Golden Eagles also enjoyed a successful fall against stiff competition in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, one of which being the ITA Southern Regionals. The Black and Gold collected wins over the course of play against Auburn, Mississippi State and Tulane, among others.
Jackson State has faced a difficult road gauntlet to start the season, playing at Auburn, Memphis and UL Lafayette.
