Southern Miss will face the Lady Toppers on Thursday at 6pm in Bowling Green.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles head to Kentucky to take on WKU on their home court on Thursday at 6pm.
Southern Miss (9-10, 1-5) faces the Lady Toppers (11-8, 5-0) in Diddle Arena for the fourth time in its history, with WKU leading the series, 5-3 and 1-2 at home.
Southern Miss continues to be led by veteran players Megan Brown and Shonte Hailes, as well as standout redshirt freshman Kelsey Jones. Brown, the lone senior for the Lady Eagles, has 190 points for the season thus far, leading the team and putting her at 910 points in her career. She continues to rise on the all-time games played list with 119, placing her tied for No. 8 with Gina Griffin. Along with those accomplishments, she holds the second-longest consecutive games played streak in Conference USA with 83 straight, only behind UAB's Kuzmanic who has 114. Not to be outdone, Hailes is also rising in the ranks of the Lady Eagles with 325 all-time assists, which places her at No. 14. She leads the team in assists with 79. Kelsey Jones leads her team with 94 rebounds on the season.
The Lady Toppers are coached by first-year head coach Greg Collins, who was previously on staff as an assistant and associate head coach. Dee Givens leads WKU with 358 points this season, with Raneem Elgedawy leading in rebounds with 152, and Whitney Creech leads in assists with 58.
