Beach Volleyball Announces Inaugural Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss beach volleyball program announced the 2019 schedule, marking its inaugural season.
Southern Miss' first ever beach volleyball match will be at Spring Hill College against Coastal Carolina on February 22. The Alabama road swing continues against Coastal Carolina and Spring Hill on February 23. Next, Southern Miss will head to New Orleans for the Beach Invitational against Huntingdon, New Orleans, Nicholls State and Spring Hill.
"We are all very excited for our first Southern Miss beach volleyball season," said head coach Stephanie Radecki. "Our schedule includes a strong range of programs, some established programs and some programs that are in the early stages similar to ours.
"This spring will be an exciting test for our team and will allow us to grow and develop."
The Golden Eagles return home for two matches on March 5 against Tulane in the Southern Miss Mardi Gras Challenge. The 1 p.m. contest marks the first beach volleyball match hosted by Southern Miss. Following that midweek match, a trip north to the March to May at UAB will add four more matches to the schedule. The Golden Eagles will battle UAB, Tulane, Georgia State and Spring Hill. The squad then heads to Tennessee over spring break for midweek matches against Tennessee-Martin and Austin Peay on March 13 and 14, respectively. Those will be followed by The Governor's Challenge at Austin Peay on March 15-16. The Golden Eagles will match up against Missouri Baptist, Central Arkansas and Tusculum University.
Southern Miss closes March with the Tiger Beach Challenge at LSU. The nationally ranked Tigers will also host Tulane, Georgia State and Spring Hill. The Golden Eagles return home on April 6 to host Spring Hill. William Carey will travel the short distance to Southern Miss on April 13 to conclude the regular season.
The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Beach Volleyball Championships will be held April 19-21 in Emerson, Georgia. The National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championships, in Gulf Shores, Ala., are slated for May 3-5.
