Golden Eagles Leave Samford With Good Feeling

HOMEWOOD, Ala. - Steve Schram, the Southern Miss women's tennis coach, headed to Samford not knowing what to expect with his new squad. Well, Schram left the Samford Hidden Duals with a good feeling for where his team is at.Â
The Golden Eagles saw success at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles over the course of the tournament. The five girls slotted at those positions finished the weekend with a combined record of 12-3. Tjasa Jerse and Katia de la Garza each went 3-0, while de la Garza also went 3-0 at No. 3 doubles with Monique Burton. Rikeetha Pereira and Ebru Zeynep Yazgan also went 3-0, but at No. 2 doubles. The doubles pair of Arina Amaning and Jerse went 2-1 at the No. 1 spot.Â
In singles, Amaning went 2-1 at the No. 1 spot for the Golden Eagles and Pereira went 2-1 at the No. 2 spot.Â
