
Southern Miss Wraps Up Regular Season at Old Waverly

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's golf wrapped up its regular season today after a 14th place finish at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship today in West Point, Miss.
Nathan Corchis was the top team finisher, placing tied for 42nd. The junior tallied 11 consecutive pars today, making for a round of four-over (76) and a total of 12-over (228) for the tournament. Willie Hammond was the next Golden Eagle on the leaderboard, tying for 51st following a final round of 10-over (82) brought him to 14-over (230) for the tournament. Corchis and Hammond topped the nation's No. 87 golfer, Blake Elliot of McNeese State, who finished tied for 62nd out of a field that included seven other top-100 golfers.
Brian Richards' two birdies helped him amass a five-over (77) today and end tied for 66th at 17-over (233) total. Matt Codd shot a team best one-under 71 this afternoon, marking his eighth round of par or better for the season. The Red Deer, Alberta product climbed four spots to conclude with a score of 21-over (237), 77th overall. Philip Heine notched his lowest round of the tournament during the last round, submitting a nine-over 81. He finished 83rd, totaling 32-over (248) for the three rounds.
The Golden Eagles will play in Texarkana, Ark. April 22-25 for the final tournament of the 2017-2018 campaign, the Conference USA Championship.
