
Women's Tennis Dominate Double Header

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women's tennis went 2-0 on Sunday after picking up a win against Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State.
The Jackson State Tigers took the doubles point after wins on courts 1 and 3. Lara Isis de Oliveria and Elena Roca competed for the first time together in doubles play and won the only doubles match against the Tigers 6-2.
Claudia Castella won her third straight singles match after Sunday's 6-0, 6-0 win against the Tigers. Elena Roca and Tjasa Jerse also secured singles wins. Rikeetha Pereira clinched the match with a 6-0, 7-6 match that was sent to a tiebreaker.
Southern Miss defeated Jackson State 4-3 after wins on courts 1 and 3.
Southern Miss went into the second match of the day at 2 p.m. and defeated MSVU 7-0. All three doubles matches were won with a 6-2 score.
Arina Amaning, Pereira, Anastasia Cobanovic, Jerse, Tanit Lopez Lopez and Roca all won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Roca remains undefeated in singles play and improves to 10-0 on the season.
The Golden Eagles travel to UL-Lafayette on Tuesday, March 6 at 4 p.m. for their fourth road match of the season.
