Matt Codd Paces Southern Miss Squad at Louisiana Classics

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Matt Codd leads the Southern Miss Golden Eagles after the first day of the 33rd Louisiana Classics.
The senior carded three birdies in the second go around to climb 14 spots and move into a 12 way tie for 43rd. His one-under 71 added with his three-over 75 give him a two over 146 heading into the final round. Codd collected 29 pars today, the second most of any golfer in the tournament.
Freshman Brian Richards fired seven second round birdies to jump seven spots, collecting an even 72 in addition to his first round four-over 76, and will begin the final 18 holes in a four way tie for 59th at four-over 148.
Junior Willie Hammond totaled a five-over 149 by carding a three-over 75 during the opening 18 and a two-over 74 in the last round of today's activities. He is tied for 63rd.
Junior Derick Kelting commences the second day of play tied for 69th with a 151 total. The Amarillo, Texas native began the tournament with a two-over 74 and followed with a five-over 77.
Redshirt junior Nathan Corchis and sophomore Walker Kesterson sit tied for 71st and 82nd, respectively, after gathering an eight-over 152 and 157, individually. Corchis is positioned tied for 71st on the leaderboard and Kesterson is 82nd.
Paired with C-USA foe Rice and host Louisiana, Southern Miss will tee off every eight minutes starting at 7:54 tomorrow morning on hole 10. Codd will also tee off on 10, but at 7:38 a.m. The team currently stands at 15th overall.
