The Lady Eagles will take on the Lady Demons on Tuesday night in Reed Green.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles (4-2) return to the floor on Tuesday night to finish their four-game home stand, taking on Northwestern State (3-2) at 6pm in Reed Green Coliseum.
Southern Miss is coming off a tough and close loss to Sam Houston State, the last game of the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic. The Lady Eagles fought until the absolute final moment of the game, decreasing the Bearkats' lead by two with only nine seconds left on the clock. Southern Miss looks to defeat the Lady Demons of Northwestern State to improve its record to 5-2. This game will also finish off play in the month of November and a four-game series at home for the women.Â
In the series between the Lady Eagles and Lady Demons, Southern Miss leads 7-5. When the two play at Reed Green, Southern Miss leads 5-1 and is 2-4 when playing at Prather Coliseum. The last time the two met, Southern Miss defeated Northwestern State 71-59 at Prather Arena. It will be almost a year to the date that the two met last when they tipoff in Reed Green on Tuesday.
Southern Miss has obvious ties with the Lady Demons, as Northwestern State's head coach is Jordan Dupuy who was Joye Lee-McNelis' first assistant at Southern Miss. Dupuy has served both men's and women's basketball at Southern Miss, and is a two-time graduate of the University. He spent five years with the Lady Eagles on staff, the last two as associate head coach. Kira Bonner, a junior guard for the Lady Demons, is a Quitman, Miss. native and a graduate of Quitman HS, the same as Shonte Hailes of the Lady Eagles.Â
