Women's Tennis Concludes Fall Slate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sunday's round at the Seminole All-Conference Showdown marked the final time the Southern Miss women's tennis team would take the court for the fall season. In total, three Golden Eagles won their matches this morning, which was highlighted by a dominant performance by Australian Monique Burton. Burton knocked off Stella Carra in straight sets, including a 6-0 win to open the match.
In doubles, Arina Amaning and Tjasa Jerse finished in second place in their flight, losing to a duo from McNeese State. Also in doubles, Rikeetha Pereira and Ebru Zeynep Yazgan bounced back from a semifinal loss to claim third place in their flight against another McNeese State duo. By the end of play on Sunday, seven different Golden Eagles had recorded a singles win.
Pereira and Jerse highlighted the group with two wins each. Southern Miss will take the winter to regroup for the spring season that will get underway in late January.
