
Golden Eagles to Host Southeastern Louisiana

Hattiesburg, Miss. - After a three-day swing in the sunshine state, the Golden Eagles have returned home for a Tuesday night non-conference match against Southeastern Louisiana. The Lions and Golden Eagles are slated for a 6 p.m. serve at Reed Green Coliseum.Â
The last time outÂ
On Sunday afternoon against Florida International, Southern Miss fell in a heartbreaker. The Golden Eagles won the first two sets, but the Panthers responded by taking the next three sets and the match. Sarah Bell contributed with 62 helpers and 23 digs. For the second time in the last week, Chandler Marshall posted a team high in kills with 22. At the net, Ashley Berry, Alexis Coombs, and Catherine Repsher all finished with five blocks each.Â
The loss dipped Southern Miss' record to 11-12 and 4-5 in C-USA play. Kylie Grandy slid into third all-time in career kills in Southern Miss history. She is currently 139 behind Tosha Barnicoat for second all-time.Â
Scouting Southeastern LouisianaÂ
The Lions sit at 2-20 and 1-9 in the Southland Conference with their two wins coming against Lamar and Southern. Southeastern Louisiana is paced by Elyssa Purcell and her 139 kills. Joining the 5-foot-10 redshirt junior is Jodi Edo with 136 kills. The Lions have a pair of setters with over 200 assists in Haley Baker (325) and Michelle Mirarchi (265).Â
Defensively, senior Lexie Torres leads the squad with 224 digs. Sam Gomez leads the way with 62 blocks and 106 kills.Â
What's at stakeÂ
Southern Miss currently leads the all-time series against Southeastern Louisiana, 33-22. Dating back to 2005, the Golden Eagles have won the last 10 meetings. Last year, Southern Miss won in straight sets on the road.Â
