HATTIESBURG, Miss. -Â The Southern Miss volleyball team will take a break from C-USA action on Tuesday night when they travel to Alabama State for a midweek contest. The Golden Eagles and Hornets are slated for a 7 p.m. serve in Montgomery, Ala.Â

The Hornets enter the contest with an overall record of 10-16 and a 7-2 record in the SWAC. In their last outing, Alabama State lost in straight sets to Alabama to match the Golden Eagles' result against the Crimson Tide earlier this season. Junior Krystal Medearis backs Alabama State offensively with 214 kills and eight service aces. Kori Kutsch, a senior, paces the Hornets with 671 assists, good for an average of 7.54 per set.Â
