HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The last time Southern Miss won a three-setter at Reed Green Coliseum was on August 25 against ECU. Well, that changed today as the Golden Eagles dominated Louisiana Tech in straight sets (25-17, 24-14, 25-17). The Lady Techsters fell behind early and never really got close to mounting a comeback.Â
The lone scare LA Tech gave Southern Miss came in the first set as it snagged a 12-11 lead. However, a Sarah Bell kill jump started a 9-1 run by Southern Miss to leave the Lady Techsters with a steep mountain to climb if they were to make a comeback. Catherine Repsher ripped a kill to secure a 25-17 win in the first set.Â
The second set went much of the same way as the previous one. LA Tech and Southern Miss traded points, but the Golden Eagles went on an 8-1 run to pull away. A kill by Breleigh Favre started a 3-0 run to close out the second set. Favre finished her day with two kills and a .500 hitting clip. The third set started with pure dominance from the black and gold. The Golden Eagles climbed to a 17-6 lead before LA Tech momentarily sliced into it. Ashley Berry took matters into her own hands and smacked a kill to send the Lady Techsters packing.Â
The Golden Eagles moved their overall record to 10-10 and 4-3 in C-USA play. They will hit the road for a Tuesday night match at Alabama State before heading to Florida Atlantic and Florida International next weekend.Â

Thoughts from Stephanie Radecki
"I was really proud of our offense today. I felt like we were very efficient offensively and we passed the ball pretty well. We were able to see some players come off the bench to help us get a good conference win.Â
"We just need to stay focused and keep pushing hard. It always feels that when you play on a Sunday and have a quick transition that you don't really have a weekend. We were able to have an extra day off last week and we'll have a day off Wednesday, so we'll be able to stay focused. It's really just keeping the momentum going positive."
