
Five Women's Tennis Individuals Named 2017 ITA Scholar Athletes

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Five members of the Southern Miss women's tennis team were named to the 2017 ITA Scholar Athletes by earning a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Seniors, Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen earned yet another award after concluding their final season with the Golden Eagles. The duo are now two-time recipients of this award having also been named ITA Scholar Athletes last season.
Tzu-Hui Chen, Tjasa Jerse and Rikeetha Pereira were also recognized as scholar athletes as first-time honorees after their sophomore seasons.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
