
Women's Tennis Earn Another Road Win

Hilton Head, S.C. -- Singles play was all the Southern Miss women's tennis team needed in order to beat Savannah State 5-0 on Wednesday.
Alex Kitchen competed at No. 1 in singles for the second time this season and defeated Rachida El Kateb 6-1, 6-4.
Claudia Castella becomes the third Golden Eagle this season to defeat her opponent in straight sets without dropping a game. Castella's 6-0, 6-0 win put the Golden Eagles up 3-0 after Kitchen and Elena Roca's default win.
Tjasa Jerse improves to 12-2 on the season after her 6-2, 6-1 win. Four of her last five matches have been on court 5. Jerse is undefeated (3-0) on court 4. Tzu-Hui Chen finished Wednesday's match with her straight-set win.
The Golden Eagles finish their road trip tomorrow when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C., to face Winthrop. The Eagles are 11-3 entering the match against Southern Miss. Thursday's match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
