
Women's Tennis Secure 7-0 Sweep In South Carolina

HILTON HEAD, S.C. â€" Southern Miss women's tennis (7-6) started its mid-week action with a 7-0 sweep against South Carolina State (1-6) Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles won all three doubles matches and each singles match in straight sets against the Bulldogs. Alex Kitchen dominated on court 2 defeating Oleksandra Filippova without dropping a single game. Kitchen's 6-0, 6-0 win is the second time this season a Golden Eagle didn't drop a game after Tjasa Jerse defeated Sha'Nel Bruins of Xavier on Feb. 8.
Jerse increased her win streak to four matches after her 6-1, 6-2 performance on court 5.
Carolin Drescher improves to 8-2 on court 1 with her 6-1, 6-0 over Intissar Rassif. Drescher and Kitchen advance their win streak in doubles to three matches with a 6-2 win.
The Golden Eagles travel to Rock Hill, S.C, to face Winthrop (11-3) on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Eagles are on a three-match win streak defeating Miami (OH.), Charlotte and Elon with two of the wins coming on the road.
The Golden Eagles match scheduled against Savannah State will be rescheduled.
