Women's Tennis Earns First Road Win

KENNESAW, Ga. â€" The Southern Miss women's tennis team earns its first road win of the season after a 6-1 decision against Kennesaw State.
The Golden Eagles (6-5) earned the doubles point after the Owls forced the third match on court 2. Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen picked up its sixth doubles win at No. 1. Rikeetha Pereira and Elena Roca clinched the doubles point in their match with a tiebreaker finishing 7-6.
Roca used that momentum in singles play defeating Aspen Jarrett 6-0, 6-2 on court 6. Drescher also defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1. Drescher is now 6-2 in singles play.
Tjasa Jerse put the Golden Eagles within one point of clinching the match with her 6-4, 6-1 win against Jessica Cantrell. Jerse is one win away in singles action from her second consecutive double-digit win season.
Kitchen clinched the match in her three-set match against Cristina Perez-Martin.
The Golden Eagles face Sun Belt opponent, Georgia State (4-5), tomorrow at 10 a.m.
