
Wilkins and Golden Eagles Earn Win

HATTIESBURG, Miss. â€" Chris Wilkins of the Southern Miss Men's Tennis team competed and won his first match in Sunday's 7-0 win against Delta State.
The doubles teams got the first point on courts 1 and 2. Wen-Po Tseng and Rakshit Rishi played together for the first time this season at No. 2 and won 6-2. Jorman Reyes and Daniel Merker picked up their fifth win at No. 1 in a 6-4 victory.
Wilkins, Hattiesburg native, competed for the first time as a Golden Eagle at No. 6. Wilkins won his first set 6-2 but was forced to a third after a 6-2 loss in the second. In the final set, Wilkins defeated Timo Schmitz 10-6 for his first career win.
Tseng was also forced to three sets after falling behind early in a 6-1 set loss. Tseng won 7-6, 10-6 to pick up the third point of the match. Chao-Yu Huang and Teeradon Tortrakul also picked up wins in straight sets to help the Golden Eagles win 7-0.
The Golden Eagles are set to host Mississippi College on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
