Golden Eagles Go Undefeated Opening Weekend

HATTIESBUEG, Miss. â€" The Southern Miss Men's tennis team added two more wins on opening weekend and stays perfect at home to start the spring season.
The Golden Eagles defeated Jackson State 4-0 Saturday morning. The team continued to dominate in doubles and needed only two matches to earn the point. Wen-Po Tseng and Chao-Yu Huang and Rakshit Rishi and Teerardon Tortrakul easily won their matches winning 6-1 respectively.
Tortrakul won easy finishing his match first of the day and defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Huang also soared through his match with ease needing only two sets to win the match pulling the Golden Eagles within in one point.
Jorman Reyes who played at the No. 4 spot all weekend in singles action, cruised through his matches. Reyes dominated in his match and won 6-0, 6-0.
The Golden Eagles competed in its third match of the weekend when they hosted and defeated Alcorn 4-1. The team played with the same doubles pairs but were forced to a third match in order to earn its third straight doubles point of the weekend. Merker and Reyes won the match 7-6 and won off the first tiebreaker.
Reyes went unbeaten through three matches in singles play and beat his last opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Tortrakul also went undefeated on opening weekend. Totrakul pulled the Golden Eagles within its final point to win the match. Rakshit Rishi needed only two sets to win 6-2, 6-1 to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 start to the season.
This is the fourth year in a row the Golden Eagles have started 3-0. The team hosts South Alabama Feb. 4 before hitting the road for three matches.
