// Box Score (PDF) CHARLOTTE - The host Charlotte 49ers took a nine-point halftime lead and held it together for an 82-66 win over Southern Miss inside Halton Arena on Saturday night. The 49ers gained a 16-point lead, but seven consecutive Southern Miss points forced a timeout with 13 minutes left in the game after the 65-second fury. Those buckets came via layups by Quinton Campbell and Michael Ramey after a Khari Price triple from the top of the key. Charlotte took its largest lead of the early going at the 8:56 mark, going up by 12. Campbell answered with a deep three-pointer, and after Charlotte countered with the same, Cortez Edwards drove in for a left-handed runner that had the Golden Eagles down 26-16 with 7:41 to play. Southern Miss, which played in Norfolk against Old Dominion on Thursday, went 20-for-24 from the foul line, its best since also going 83.3 percent against San Diego State (15-for-18). It marked the most makes since having 23 versus Stephen F. Austin the following day. The Golden Eagles on Thursday will look for their third-straight home win when they welcome North Texas for a 7 p.m. contest. Rice also comes in for a Saturday 4 p.m. tilt. NOTES -Quinton Campbell produced his second double-double of the last three games. His 13 boards tied a Southern Miss season-high set by Cortez Edwards in the Jan. 5 win over UTSA. -Clay Weatherspoon's three-point play marked his first collegiate venture into the scoring column. -Khari Price's six assists were his most since having eight in the 2016 home finale versus North Texas. -Kevin Holland went 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, improving his percentage this year to 46 percent (21-for-46). -Robert Thomas went 4-for-4 at the line, tying his career-high for makes. -Charlotte was held to 2-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc in the second half.
