HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team opened its fall practice season last Sunday in preparation for the 2017 season.
Eighth-year baseball coach Scott Berry welcomes 21 new players to the roster after last year's edition of the Golden Eagles compiled a 41-20 record, captured a Conference USA tournament title and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in the school's history.
"There will be a lot jobs up in the air this fall with the tremendous influx of players that we have this year," said Berry. "Still, this is a club that will compete again for the Conference USA championship this spring and I look forward to watching and evaluating our players over our fall season."
Fans can get their first look of the Golden Eagles as they will hold intrasquad scrimmages every day this weekend, each going approximately five innings.
The scrimmages start at 3:30 p.m., Friday, at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, and at 1:30 p.m., Sunday.
Fans are welcome to come out each day as practice is open to the public.
