Doubles Pair Invited to Riviera/ITA All-American

Hattiesburg, Miss. -- Two Southern Miss Women's Tennis players have been invited to the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.
Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen will represent the Golden Eagles in the Pre-Qualifying doubles round of the tournament Oct. 1st through Oct. 9th in Palisades, Calif. The number one doubles pair for the Golden Eagles were invited to the tournament based on the their results from the 2015 season.
"It's a huge honor because we have talked about getting into this tournament all four years and this is the first time we've been able to get into it," Kitchen said. "It was unexpected but it is such a great honor and we're really excited."
The pair went 16-10 overall and 7-3 in tournament play last season. Drescher and Kitchen have only played doubles together since the two arrived in Hattiesburg their freshman year and said their chemistry is at its highest now after three seasons.
"We want to give it our best this season and have the team finish the season ranked but we also want help the younger girls have a great experience here," Drescher said.
The Golden Eagles start its fall season when they travel to Houston, Texas for the Rice Invitational, Sept. 23 through the 25th.
