Modise, Four Golden Eagles Claim Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Carolin Drescher, Tjasa Jerse, Alexandra Kitchen and Marta Ruszczynska to the All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes of 2016.
Kitchen had a 14-win record in the spring with 19 wins overall. Drescher and Kitchen played as the No. 1 doubles and finished with 16 wins.
All four Golden Eagles are receiving the ITA Scholar-Athlete award for the first time. To win this award, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 and be enrolled at their current school for at least two semesters.
Head coach Dominic Modise was awarded the Tennis Media Club's Tennis Professional of the Month for July. This award is given to professionals all over the world. Modise, in his fourth season at Southern Miss, placed a player on the All-Conference team for the second year in a row.
