Southern Miss Announces Promotions for WKU Baseball Weekend

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Department of Athletics announced Wednesday afternoon the promotions schedule for this weekend’s Conference USA baseball series against WKU which will be held at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The No. 18 ranked Golden Eagles (31-14 overall, 15-6 C-USA) plays the Hilltoppers Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and the series concludes with a 1 p.m., contest Sunday.
It will be Pack The Pete in Pink Weekend, which is the program’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness series. This year’s Pack the Pete in Pink t-shirts will be available all weekend at the park for $12, which will benefit individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment in the Pine Belt area. Additionally, the first 100 moms in attendance to Sunday’s game will receive a pink Southern Miss lanyard for Mother’s Day and also as part of the Pack The Pete in Pink festivities. Throughout the weekend information will be available to support Breast Cancer Awareness as the Pink Ribbon Fund’s table in the main concourse.
In addition, the baseball program welcomes back the 1991 team, Saturday, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary of finishing 42-24 and competing in the NCAA Central Regional in Austin, Texas. That team will be recognized prior to the game that day.
The premium food items for the series includes fried Oreos for $4, as well as chili cheese fries or chili cheese nachos for $6 each. In addition, onion rings and chicken tenders will also be available all weekend.
Ceremonial first pitches over the weekend will include Miss Southern Magnolia, Alexis Carter, prior to the Friday contest, as well as a breast cancer survivor on Sunday on behalf of the Pink Ribbon Fund.
As is the usual at The Pete, children are allowed to run the bases following the Sunday game.
