
Women's Tennis Tops Nicholls 4-0

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's tennis team continues to roll, posting a 4-0 victory over Nicholls on Saturday in moving to 14-2 on the season.
"We competed well against tough Nicholls State team," Head Coach Dominic Modise said. "It's all about attitude and heart. Very proud of our ladies."
The Golden Eagles posted the first win in doubles when Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen defeated Milou Pietersz and Julia Melendz 6-1 at No. 1. The Colonels came right back to even the match with a 6-3 win at No. 2, Laia Charles and Isla Brock downed Claudia Castella and Rikeetha Pereira. Elena Roca and Tjasa Jerse clinched the point with a 7-6 (1) win over Ambika Pande and Clemence Krug.
Kitchen added a point for the Black and Gold with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Melendez at No. 2. Castella followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Andrea Mastrippolito at No. 6. Roca clinched the match at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Krug.
Southern Miss is back in action on Sunday against UTSA at 10 a.m.
