HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
The Southern Miss baseball team plans to hold its inaugural Spring Break camp, March 14-15, for children in kindergarten through eighth grade at Pete Taylor Park.
The camp, which runs from 9 a.m., until 12 noon on both days, costs $100 per child and includes a camp T-shirt, insurance for every camper, as well as a complimentary ticket to get into the March 15 Golden Eagle home contest versus Alabama with an opportunity to be on the field for the national anthem with the Southern Miss players.
The camp will include instruction by Southern Miss coaches along with a camp worksheet that goes over every drill covered during the two-day session. Both days will cover fundamentals of baseball as well as a game slated at the end of each camp day.
Registration begins on Monday, March 14, at 8:30 a.m.
On the following day, each camper will have the opportunity to wear their camp shirt to the Golden Eagles' game versus Alabama and participate in running on the field for the nation anthem with their favorite player.
It is the goal of this camp to educate young players about baseball as well as allowing them to experience being on "The Pete" during a game.
