HATTIESBURG, Miss. – With the best start to the season since 2007, the Southern Miss Women's Tennis team has moved into the ITA College Tennis national rankings at No. 73 that was released on Feb. 22, 2016. The last time the team was ranked was in 2007 with a ranking of No. 74.
With wins over William Carey, Alcorn State, Jacksonville State, Alabama State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Lafayette, the team holds an undefeated record of 7-0.
Southern Miss is the only C-USA team that is undefeated and one of only four teams ranked in the conference.
"We are moving in the right direction as a program," Head Coach Dominic Modise said. "This is due to the hard work that the ladies put in every day on and off the court. Without their work ethic and Golden Eagle pride, we would not be where we are today."
The Golden Eagles will travel to Starkville, Miss., to take on Mississippi State (7-1) who is ranked No. 25 on Mar. 27.
