HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss soccer team opens a two-game home stand Friday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. against UAB for the second to last home game of the season at the USM Soccer Complex.
With three games left in Conference USA action, the Golden Eagles (7-6-1) are looking to end the season on a high note. UAB travels to Hattiesburg on a five-game losing streak. The Blazers hosted North Texas and UTSA last week and lost 1-0 and 2-1, respectively.
Katie Richmond and Bri Schubeck continue to fight for their fifth goal of the season while Brittany Taylor searches for her fifth shutout of the season on Friday. The Blazers have scored only two goals in their last seven games and Breann Hedin and Ola Akinniyi look to continue their dominance on defense and shut the Blazers out.
The Golden Eagles will try to get back to their scoring ways against the Blazers who have given up 26 goals this season. The team has already scored three more goals this season (21) than they did all of last season.
Friday's home game will be the Golden Eagles Pink Game supporting breast cancer awareness. All fans are encouraged to wear pink.
Scouting UAB: The Blazers travel to Hattiesburg with a 4-10-1 record. The Blazers tied FIU 0-0 on Sept. 30, but have lost the last five games being outscored 7-1 in those games. Jessica Do is the Blazers leading scorer with four goals and one assist with Megan Hudgens close behind with three goals and three assists.
