
Golden Eagles Continue Samford Round Robin Action

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southern Miss women's tennis teamed wrapped up day two at the Samford Round Robin tournament with three wins on Saturday at the Samford Tennis Complex.
In doubles, the Golden Eagles captured one win as Rikeetha Pereira and Gabrielle Robinson beat Samford's team of Hepp and Kilduff 6-2.
Tjasa Jerse competed hard against Elena Muller from Tulane and forced a third set in Flight 2 of singles action. Jerse won the first set with ease at 6-1 but lost the final sets 6-2, 6-1. Tzu-Hui Chen also forced a third set but fell just short losing 7-6 in the final set.
Gabrielle Robinson finished the day strong for the Golden Eagles and defeated Elisa Pool of Samford 6-1, 6-1. Claudia Castella also secured a win against Clara Kuehn from Memphis to give the Golden Eagles their third win of the day.
The Golden Eagles will conclude the Samford Round Robin tournament Sunday before returning home to Hattiesburg.
