
Golden Eagles Fall After 101 Minutes of Action

NORFOLK, Va. â€" Southern Miss soccer falls after a 1-0 loss to Old Dominion in double overtime Friday night.
It took 101 minutes for Madison Hogan to score the lone goal of the game for the Monarchs. A stolen pass off the Golden Eagles' defense lead to a one-on-one with Brittany Taylor in goal and just barely rolled in to give the Monarchs the win.
The Golden Eagles fall to 7-5-1 on the season. Friday night's game was just the second time the Golden Eagles went in to overtime with the first coming against Marshall in a 1-1 tie.
The Golden Eagles held a strong defense the entire game with Ashton Stennis, Breann Hedin and Taylor making big plays to prevent the Monarchs from going ahead.
Karen Torres lead the team with two shots on Krista Moisio in goal. Taylor recorded six saves in the game coming up big late in the 87th minute of regulation time to tip the ball over the net.
The Golden Eagles travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on the 49ers (8-5-1) in Charlotte for more Conference USA action. Charlotte is coming off a 4-0 home win against LA Tech Friday night.
