Through the first four matches, attacking players Stephanie Garcia, Adriana Garcia and Becky McMullan have consistently kept opponents' keepers on their toes. The three currently lead the Golden Eagles in shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Brittany Taylor has recorded 13 saves so far this season for the Golden Eagles. Freshman Brittany Snyder has also seen time in the net, but has not yet needed to make a save.
This will be the second matchup between the Golden Eagles and the Jaguars, who are a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Last season, Southern Miss recorded a 4-0 victory over Southern in Hattiesburg.
Southern Miss holds a record of 2-6-1 against Mississippi State. In their last meeting in 2014, the Bulldogs edged the Golden Eagles 2-1 in double overtime in Starkville.
