Women's Golf Announces 2015-16 Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team released its 2015-16 schedule Tuesday afternoon and the Golden Eagles will play 10 regular-season tournaments including the Conference USA Championship, which will be held April 17-20.
The ladies will kick off fall tournament competition at the Chris Banister Golf Classic on Sept. 27-29, in Jacksonville, Ala.
"We are thrilled to begin competition this fall at the Chris Banister Golf Classic and will look to create immediate momentum as we move through our fall season," said first-year Southern Miss women's golf coach Erika Brennan. "With four events, we will need to come out of the gate strong to put ourselves in good position heading in to our championship season this spring."
With four tournaments in the fall, and five tournaments in the spring, excluding the Conference USA Tournament, the Golden Eagles will play in Alabama, Ohio, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi and Tennessee.
"Our girls have worked hard this summer and will come in eager to be challenged; that's what makes them special, they want to go that extra mile," Brennan said. " I am honored to coach this group of young ladies, and they continue to blow me away with their work ethic, values and kindness. They get it, and that's something that's hard to teach. Time to plant the flag - our way of saying 'It's time to go to work.'"
The Golden Eagles have five letterwinners returning from last year including seniors Jennifer Nguyen (Slidell, La.) and Mackenzie Kelly (Magee, Miss.), juniors Emily Ross (Diamondhead, Miss.), and Devon Spriddle (Lethbridge, Alberta) and sophomore Belen Abrile (Cordoba, Argentina).
Southern Miss also gained three outstanding newcomers for the 2015-16 season, including freshmen Valentina Haupt (Weston, Fla.), Miranda Holt (Pensacola, Fla.) and transfer junior Kelly Erasmus (Capetown, South Africa) from Lamar University.
