HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss baseball team returns to action for the first of four road contests to end the regular season when they travel to New Orleans, Tuesday, to face Tulane in a 5 p.m., makeup contest at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
The game is a makeup of an Apr. 14 rainout.
Heading into this contest, the Golden Eagles (31-16-1) bring in a season-best, nine-game winning streak to the tilt which is the longest for the school since winning 10-straight games in 2013. Their active streak also ranks tied currently for the fifth longest in Division I baseball.
In the earlier meeting between the two schools, Southern Miss captured an 8-4 decision at Pete Taylor Park, back on March 11, snapping a two-game losing streak to the Green Wave (31-19).
Both teams continue to battle for a postseason spot in the NCAA Tournament that will be announced later this month. The Golden Eagles are fourth in C-USA with a 16-10 record, while the Green Wave hold an11-10 mark during their inaugural campaign in the American, which places them in fourth place as well.
Junior Chase Scott continues to lead Southern Miss with a 17-game hitting streak, which is the longest since Isaac Rodriguez posted a 21-gamer during the 2013 campaign.
Following the Tulane contest, the Golden Eagles travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for a three-game, regular-season league series Thursday-Saturday. Game times are 6 p.m., on both Thursday and Friday with a 12 noon game on Saturday. The regular-season finale will be televised on ASN.
