Women's Golf to Participate in Rebel Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team continues its spring season this week when it stays in state for the Rebel Intercollegiate in West Point. The tournament, which will be Apr. 3-5, will be hosted by Ole Miss and played at the par-72, 6,210-yard Ole Miss Golf Course.
This will be the Lady Eagles' seventh straight appearance in the tournament and 12th overall. Last year, they tied for 13th-place. Their best finish came in 1998 when they took home third-place.
Southern Miss will be joined in the tournament by 11 teams in Golfweek's Top 100 rankings, led by 12th-ranked Tennessee and No. 14 Texas A&M. Also participating are No. 28 Furman, No. 36 Kent State, No. 61 Kennesaw State, No. 67 Fresno State, No. 73 Memphis, No. 87 Harvard, No. 92 Tulsa, No. 99 East Tennessee State and No. 100 Samford.
Also joining the Lady Eagles are Alabama State, Clemson, Maryland, Mercer, Murray State and host Ole Miss.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is sophomore Devon Spriddle. The Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada native leads the team with an average of 75.69 strokes per round. She has six consecutive top-20 finishes, including an 18th-place finish in her last tournament, the Bearcat Spring Classic.
Freshman Belen Abrile will tee off in the No. 2 position. The Cordoba, Argentina native is averaging 81.00 strokes per round.
Junior Jennifer Nguyen and sophomore Emily Ross Kelly will be in the third and fourth positions, respectively. Nguyen is second on the team, averaging 80.00 strokes while Ross is averaging 81.13.
Junior MacKenzie Kelly will tee off in the No. 5 position. The Magee, Miss., native is averaging 85.67 strokes per round this year.
Play begins at 8:51 a.m. CT, with the Lady Eagles teeing off from the 10th tee.
