Women's Tennis Team Falls at UAB 4-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team fell to C-USA foe UAB 4-0 on Saturday at the George Ward Park.
Golden Eagles fall to 8-11 while UAB improved to 7-12.
UAB took the doubles with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3. Claudia Castella and Karina Gurgenyan lost to Rachel Daniell and Elaine Simon 8-2 while Elena Roca and Kathrin Waidner lost to Paris Kianoush and Amy Lowther 8-0. Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen held a 6-5 advantage at No. 1 before the match was halted.
In singles, UAB added three points with three wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5. Drescher's match was in the third set before the match was halted. Roca took her first set 7-5, but was trailing in the second set before that match was called. Waidner took her first set 7-6 and was on serve in the second set 3-4 before her match was halted as well.
Southern Miss will conclude its regular season at Prairie View on April 15, just before heading to the Conference USA Championship hosted by Rice in Houston, Texas.
