
Women's Tennis Team Falls to UTEP 4-2

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team dropped a C-USA match to visiting UTEP on Sunday by a score of 4-2.
Southern Miss falls to 8-9 on the season while UTEP improved to 11-4.
The Miners took the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Claudia Castella and Lisa Schneider lost to Daphne Visscher and Lois Wagenvoort 8-2. Elena Roca and Kathrin Waidner fell to Matilda Tench and Anastasiya Sylenko 8-5. Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen held a 7-4 lead over Davina Meza and Duda Santos before the match was halted.
In the singles competition, Drescher posted a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 1 against Meza. Roca then defeated Wagenvoort at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
It took a pair of three-set match wins for the Miners to earn the 4-2 win.
Southern Miss is back in action on April 1 when the Golden Eagles travel to Jackson State for a 3:30 p.m. match.
