Basketball Hosts Alabama in Televised Game

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss basketball team returns home to Reed Green Coliseum this Friday night for a nonconference tilt with SEC opponent Alabama. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1 and tipoff for the game is slated for 7:00 p.m.
The game will be part of #GoGoldFriday and all fans asked to wear GOLD for the game against Alabama. The basketball team will be wearing their gold uniforms as well.
During halftime, there will be a performance provided by the Air Elite Dunkers. They are the official Dunk Team for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, and Toronto Raptors, as well as, for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream. Fans can also enjoy the game from the brand new All You Can Eat section. Tickets for this section include admission to the game and unlimited hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and soft drinks throughout the game. In addition, Aramark will be offering a one-of-a-kind premium food item for this game: chicken waffle sandwich. This tasty offering will be available for $6 at Friday night's game.
Basketball suites are also available for this game. These suites hold 10 people and are available for $250 per game. This includes access to the All You Can Eat menu items with unlimited hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and soft drinks during the game.
Alabama (4-2) hold a 21-5 (.808) record in the all-time series with Southern Miss (0-5). The two teams have met four times in Hattiesburg with the series tied 2-2 (.500). The game will mark the first time since Feb. 6, 1996 that the two teams have met at Reed Green Coliseum.
This season is the 50th anniversary of the opening of Reed Green Coliseum. On Dec. 6, 1965, Southern Miss opened Reed Green Coliseum with a 71-69 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. Five days later, the Golden Eagles dedicated the building after the legendary head coach with a home game against Alabama.
The two teams have met six different cities in their history. Aside from games in Hattiesburg and Tuscaloosa, the Golden Eagles and Tide have also squared off against each other in Biloxi, Miss., Birmingham, Ala., Jacksonville, Fla., and Mobile, Ala.
Southern Miss enters the weekend on the heels of a 69-59 loss on the road at Troy. The Golden Eagles battled hard, but were unable to overcome 13 three-pointers made by the Trojans.
Alabama is coming off a pair of wins against nationally ranked opponents. The Crimson Tide defeated No. 20 Wichita State and No. 17 Notre Dame at the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
The game, which will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1, will mark the second time this season Southern Miss basketball will have played on television. The Golden Eagles opened the season with a TV game at Memphis on ESPN 3.
