Getting to Know ... Ariel Sneed

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The countdown to the Lady Eagle season-opener is eight days away for the women's basketball tip-off against Alabama State on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. in the Preseason WNIT.
As part of the countdown, a Lady Eagle player will be featured and today's feature player is junior college transfer Ariel Sneed.
Sneed, a native of Harvey, Ill., brings a competitive spirit to the team. She will be counted on to provide depth in the post. She will have a strong presence in the paint. She has solid rebounding skills.
Prior to coming to Southern Miss, Sneed was a standout player at Kirkwood Community College for Coach Kim Muhl for two years. She led her team to 25 wins in 2014-15, while averaging 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She earned NJCAA All-American honors as well as first team all-region team accolades. She was selected to play in the 2014 NJCAA All-Star game. She scored a season-high 24 points against Iowa Central.
Sneed played at Thornton High School for three years then transferred to Rich Central High School for her senior campaign. While at Rich Central, she led her team to a conference and regional championship and earned all-conference honors. She is the daughter of Tracey Sneed. She has five siblings, Ashley, Michelle Greene, Christian Miles, Adrian Sneed and Alex Sneed. She is a sociology major.
