GREENWOOD, Ind. – College Sports Communicators released the 2025-26 women's basketball Academic All-District selections today. Lady Eagles Hayleigh Breland (Wiggins, Miss.) and Morgan Sieper (Tampa, Fla.) were selected from Southern Miss for their academic and athletic success in the 2025-26 season.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA throughout their entire academic career and play in 75 percent of a team's games or start in 67 percent of a team's games.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Breland, a native of Wiggins, Miss., completed her collegiate career at Southern Miss this season after transferring in from Charlotte. She spent two years at Jackson State before joining the 49ers as well.
This season, Breland started in 30 games and averages 11.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. She also posted 67 assists and 32 steals on the year as a key piece of the Lady Eagle starting rotation. Breland is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in kinesiology (exercise science) program at Southern Miss and will graduate in May.
Sieper, a two-time Academic All-District selection, is in her third year as a Lady Eagle. The Tampa, Fla., native played in 29 games this season with one start as a strong piece of the Southern Miss bench. She averaged 3.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest as a true junior on the floor to go along with 20 assists and 15 steals. She also made 23 three-point field goals on the campaign to assist in Southern Miss' record-setting three-point season.
After completing her Bachelor of Science in business administration this fall, she continued into Southern Miss' Master of Business Administration program this spring.
