Basketball Travels to Morehead State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss basketball team hit the road for a nonconference game with Morehead State slated for 3:00 p.m. at Johnson Arena in Morehead, Ky.
Southern Miss (0-3) and Morehead State (3-1) have met on the hardwood nine times in program history. The MSU Eagles hold a 5-4 (.556) overall advantage in the series, including a 3-1 (.750) in Kentucky. Southern Miss has won the last two meetings in the series. After not playing for 18 years, the Golden Eagles and Eagles resumed the series in 2012 with Southern Miss posting a 94-58 victory in Morehead, Ky. The following year, the Golden Eagles picked up a 14-point win.
In three of the Golden Eagles four victories over the Eagles, Southern Miss has eclipsed 90 points. Southern Miss won 93-85 in 1969, 91-89 in 1971 and 94-58 in 2012. The only Golden Eagle victory that USM did not score 90 or more points was in 2013 -- W, 74-60.
Southern Miss enters the weekend ranked first in Conference USA in offensive rebounds per game and third in C-USA in free throw percentage. The Golden Eagles have pulled down 41 offensive boards for an average of 13.7 per game, just ahead of Old Dominion (13.2) and Charlotte (13.0). Southern Miss is shooting .709 at the charity stripe, behind only Florida Atlantic (.786) and Rice (.723).
Khari Price had a career night the last time the Golden Eagles took the court. The Dayton transfer notched career highs in points (20), field goal attempts (14), three-point field goal attempts (8), free throws (8), free throws attempted (8), rebounds (8), assists (6), and minutes played (35) against William Carey.
In his first three games in a Southern Miss uniform, Price has led the team in assists. The guard leads the team in helpers, and he ranks seventh in Conference USA in assists per game.
