Southern Miss Falls 67-49 in Season Opener

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Shaq Goodwin scored 15 points and had nine rebounds and Memphis won the game 67-49 over Southern Mississippi in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.
The Tigers' Dedric Lawson finished with 13 points and Trashon Burrell had 11.
Memphis played efficiently on offense and only committed seven turnovers to 19 for the Golden Eagles.
Southern Miss held the rebounding edge against the Tigers 48-37.
Eddie Davis scored 13 points for the Eagles who managed only 27 percent shooting for the game. Michael Ramey had 10 points for the Golden Eagles.
